Volunteering for MA Odyssey
Thank you to all of our dedicatd volunteers!
MA Odyssey of the Mind is run entirely by dedicated volunteers, and we are always in need of enthusiastic people to help us at our tournaments and throughout the year. Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to contribute to the growth and development of young minds while being part of a vibrant and supportive community. By giving your time and talents, you help create an environment where students can thrive, developing essential skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. Whether you can contribute for a single day, a few weekends each year, or more, there are many opportunities to get involved and make a difference.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to get involved with the program in Massachusetts!
Judging at the Tournament
This role involves a half-day training session, typically held about two weeks before the tournament in late February or early March, and attendance at the full-day tournament on a Saturday in early or mid-March. Judges play a critical role in ensuring the competition is fair and fun for all participants.
Non-Judging Roles at the Tournament
Volunteers are needed for 2-3 hour shifts in various positions such as the registration table, sales table, score runner, competition doorkeeper, and more. No training is required for these roles, making it easy for anyone to contribute.
Recruit New Teams
Help us spread the word about Odyssey of the Mind to new schools and districts in Massachusetts. You can talk about the program to friends, family, and colleagues. For more information or to set up an informational presentation, please contact us at info@maodyssey.org.
Judge at World Finals
Experienced judges with three or more years of Odyssey of the Mind judging experience qualify to be nominated to judge at World Finals. If you meet these requirements and are interested, please contact us at judges@maodyssey.org to be considered for nomination.
Long-Term Volunteer Board Positions
We also have long-term positions available on our volunteer board. These roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about Odyssey of the Mind and want to take on a more involved role in planning and organizing events, overseeing operations, and ensuring the continued success of our program. If you are interested in a board position, please reach out to us at info@maodyssey.org to learn more about the opportunities available.
